A new year, a new blog.
So, who am I?
My name is Ziggy, and I’m a writer in Vancouver, BC. I write mostly stuff that falls under the Young Adult umbrella, often stuff with a fantasy feel, although one of my goals for the year is to get more comfortable with scifi and space in general.
When I’m not writing, I can often be found in some dark theatre. I work as a stage manager for a few local community theatre companies, and am about to try my hand at directing, as I am currently the Assistant Director of a production of Spring Awakening that is going up in March.
I’m queer, and I work as an educator for Qmunity who goes into schools all over the Greater Vancouver area and talks about queer history, sexism and homophobia, and general antioppression workshops as well. I also have ADHD and a permanent brain injury. So it should come to no surprise that I am a big supporter of such calls for diversity like #ownvoices and #WeNeedDiverseBooks. Writing without diversity is as disingenuous as it is boring, in my opinion.
Now that you know who I am, what’s gonna be on this blog?
Mostly writing updates. What I’m working on, where I’m sending it, and where you all can read it, if you’re so inclined. I will also occasionally talk about what I’m currently reading, my current production, and any other exciting creative opportunities that come up.
All there is left to say is thanks for reading, everyone. Happy 2017!
